Best Flower to grow at home
In preparation for an unusual flower arrangement class I am planning with herbalist Dawn Petter of Petalune Herbals https://www.petaluneherbals.com/, I researched some plants that are in season right now and have both medicinal and aesthetic value. One, I am especially interested in (because my backyard is SO FULL OF Mosquitos) is Sweet Annie.
Offering an amazing fragrance for flower arrangements, Sweet Annie, also known as Artemisia, holds its scent and lush green color for a long time after drying. Its fern-like foliage is a beautiful compliment to wreaths and floral designs. It is often used to replace Baby's Breath as a “filler.” While I’m not a big fan of Baby’s Breath or filler, sometimes you need a little something to connect the dots in your design.
People once used this plant as a natural air freshener in homes and general stores, and kept it hanging in their pantries to repel bugs and scent their stored goods. A natural pesticide and insect deterrent, plant Sweet Annie near your porch or patio! (I just ordered mine from www.thegrowers-exchange.com.) This easy to care for herb also has some medicinal qualities, found within its seeds and leaves. Dawn will explain more about ways of using this special plant when we offer our class together.
I will be teaching principles of design from a Japanese and dance perspective. You’ll have a chance to create a beautiful bouquet and appreciate flowers from a holistic perspective. Good for you inside and out!
